  1. I'm going to pin this topic and if more people show support for the new section here then we'll open those sections.
  2. In the past few weeks the forum has grown at a tremendous rate. The few of us are not able to cope with the amount of posts that are being posted here everyday. We are opening moderator signups to anyone that is interested. We are looking for 3 Moderators to manage the following sections: Linux & MicrosoftAndroid & AppleGoogle & General Tech & WordPressResponsibilities Moving topics to the correct sections.Flagging spammers.Handing out warnings to users that break the rules. We'll add more here I'm sure.Requirements Read and live by the rules.Must be active on the forums. To apply, send me a private message with the following: Why do you want to be a moderator.Which section are you looking to moderate.
  3. category

Hey @Mstcool, thanks for the suggestion. In the beginning we did set the categories that way then we changed to the current category structure. We're actually in the midst of changing it back, just haven't had the time to actually do it yet.
  4. Points noted. For now we'll only have positive reputation points. Very well said!
  5. Reputation by no means determine if you made a good post or not. Some people that got butthurt by your words is going to give you a bad reputation. If someone found your post useful, you might get a good reputation. Your post can both be useful and cause certain people a level of butthurt and you may get a bad reputation. We want to expand the reputation system with icons and such. I just haven't had the time to properly plan this yet. Forumers can decide if they want to play the "bad guy" and go for a negative reputation or the "good boy" and go for a high reputation. For the record, there are no extra perks if you have a good reputation and there are no set backs for bad reputation.
  6. Users can now post new threads in Wiki which will be subject to approval before going live. The Wiki section is meant for tutorials related to the forums and general usage of our forum software. Users can also post replies to Wiki threads with questions and comments.
  7. To enable Status Update go to your profile. There will be a button called "enable". Click on that to enable status update. If you have any questions leave a reply.
  8. You can now enable status update on your profile. You can post updates on your own profile and post on other users profile if they have it enabled. For more information how to enable this click here.
  9. I think I should be a rock star.

  10. Thanks for suggestion. We're trying to keep the conversation in the forums and build the community around that. We may explore adding a chat box functionality in the future, but as of right now there are no plans.
  11. Below are the list of rankings on setuix.com and number of posts needed to achieve them. Noob 0 posts and above Joey 50 posts and above Cereal Killer 150 posts and above The Phantom Phreak 300 posts and above Lord Nikon 600 posts and above Crash Override 1,200 posts and above Acid Burn 2,400 posts and above Zero Cool 4,800 Custom Ranking 9,600 posts and above
  12. Due to popular demand an off topic section named Special Interest has been created. This section will be expanded as and when there is demand. Do note that posting there does not contribute to your post count.
  13. Hey @turt, thanks for the feedback. The reason we moved it there was to help mobile users discover new topics. The sidebar is hidden on mobile. We have moved the new topics to the bottom of the page. Should be less annoying there.
  14. rules

Many forums have their own set of rules. Make sure you read and take note of these rules before you attempt to post in one of these forums. [warning]DON’T USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, excessive !!! (exclamation marks) or ??? (question marks). It seems like you're shouting or just being silly. [warning]No lame referral schemes. This includes freeipods.com, freepsps.com, or any other similar scheme in which the poster gets personal gain from users clicking a link. [warning, ban]No asking for money for any reason whatsoever. We don't know or care about your friend who lost everything, or dying relative who wants to enjoy their last few moments alive by being given lots of money. [warning, ban]Do not inappropriately advertise other websites. Blatant attempts to advertise websites may result in a warning or the loss of forum privileges. We cannot emphasise this enough, we hate spammers. [warning, ban]No flaming; be pleasant and polite. Don't use offensive language, and don't be confrontational for the sake of confrontation. [warning]Don't point out or attack other members' reputation or post count. A higher reputation or post count does not make you better than someone else. [warning, deduction in reputation points]Use the search function. By using the search function you could find the answer yourself quicker with a little research. If you do the basic research suggested (i.e., read the rules/wiki) or search the forums and don't find the answer to your question, then go ahead and ask. [warning]Be sure you read all the sticky threads in a forum before you post. [warning]Use descriptive and specific subject lines. This helps others decide whether your particular words of wisdom relate to a topic they care about. [warning]Do not post comments that don't add anything to the discussion. When you're just cruising through a thread in a leisurely manner, it's not too annoying to read through a lot of “hear, hear’s and "I agree’s”. But if you're actually trying to find information, it's a pain in the ass. So save those one-word responses for threads that have degenerated to the point where none but true aficionados are following them any more. Or short: NO spamming. [warning]Refrain from quoting excessively. When quoting someone, use only the portion of the quote that is absolutely necessary. This includes quoting pictures. [warning]Do not post consecutively to increase your post count. [warning]When asking for support, you are responsible for choosing the best answer if available. No political or religious discussions. These types of discussions lead to arguments and flaming users, something that will not be tolerated. The only exception to this rule is when we create a special forum for this, which will exists solely for the purpose of intellectual discussion and civilized debate.Don't waste other people's bandwidth by posting images of a large file size.Be patient with newcomers. Once you have become an expert, it is easy to forget that you started out as a newbie too.No language other than English is permitted in the forums. If we can't understand it, we can't moderate it. [warning, ban]Do not post mature content on the forums. This is a forum related to technology. Not a porn site. [warning, ban]Necroposting - do not revive threads when the last post is more than 60 days ago. Only exception to this rule is if you have something new and informative to add to the thread. [warning]
