      Forum Updated   11/03/2015

We just updated the forums. Among other things, selective quote is now live. You can just select the text that you want, and a option to "quote this" will appear. During the update we also broke the main theme files for some reason.  I just activated the backup theme files and dumped the custom CSS in (I'll clean it up later). If there are any issues with the site, please get in touch with @nytegeek or myself.

Is it possible to recover a deleted file?

Question

Quite accidentally I deleted some important files from my PC.  It happened around one week back.  After that I have used my PC only for internet surfing and some online works.  Is there any chance for recovering those files?  If possible, can I do it myself or I need to contact a PC expert?

Data isn't gone until it is overwritten. There are a number of file recovery utilities, but they use a shotgun approach and you will have to sort through a lot of junk you don't want before finding what you are looking for. You should also make sure that you recover the lost files to different storage media than what they were deleted from.

One time my boss' secretary accidentally deleted his important files and that includes a Microsoft PowerPoint slide show he will use for a business presentation so our technical support decided to use Recuva software ( the software mentioned on the article you listed) on our boss' computer.

Our technical support told that our boss have deleted a lot of porn videos deleted from his computer. Our boss is the person we expected to watch porn.

There are many softwares used to recovered deleted files, but remember that the longer you  take recovering that file, the bigger the odd is that file has already been overwritten.  So if I were you I'd download a free software like '' Wise Data Recovery'' and install it right now.  That software has given me good results in the past, I'm not fan of that kind of sfotwares, because as another user in this thread already said.. those softwares use a shotgun approach.  But if you really want to get that file back it's worth the time.

Bear in mind the health of your file might not be good, so there is a big chance it can't be recovered, but don't worry, this software will let you know beforehand if the health of said file is good or not.

Very true, and after using one of those utilities and spending time recovering tons of junk alongside, there is still a chance that the recovered file could be already damaged, truncated or corrupted, hence all of your effort goes to the trashcan, which is not so bad as if you pay for a specialized service that promise to recover your delete files and may produce the same outcome.

Another tip you should heed; Scan everything you recover before opening it. Many types of malware disguise themselves as or hide in document and picture files. Much of what you recover, especially if you direct the recovery to those file types will be stuff out of cache directories from your browser or old software installation temp files. None of it will have the original names. If there was any malware that you weren't aware of you run the risk of infecting your system with it by opening the files. Recover the items to their own folder on a different target than the media or drive than they come from. This keeps the recovery process from overwriting the deleted files you are after. Set your antivirus/anti-malware software to include archives in the scan and scan the entire folder before opening any of the files.

Yes, it is possible to recover a deleted file from Android phone. With the running of Android Data Recovery, you are allowed to retrieve the lost data and those data save on the devices or from the cache.
1 Install and run the Android Data Recovery
2 Connect Android to computer and enable USB debugging
3 Begin to scan your Android for lost contacts
4 Preview and restore contacts on Android
