Windows 10 Update & Upgrade FUD

Windows 10 Update & Upgrade FUD

Windows 10 may not be loaded with new innovative features that have the “Wow Factor” some people expect in an upgrade, but it is a darn sight better then Windows 8. I for instance still prefer Linux to Windows but was happy to be rid of the bad UI design of Windows 8 on the computers that I still use Windows on. I have read some incredibly negative feedback on line, but most of it is based in FUD (Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt) or ignorance. Sure, there are some real concerns over privacy and user choice in Windows 10, but most of these have been taken by others and blown way out of proportion.

Botters are the Bane of MMORPGs. Or are they?

Botters are the Bane of MMORPGs. Or are they?

It is time for a discussion of how the botting industry actually works and the myths propagated by game publishers like Blizzard and Daybreak. The relation of Botters, Gold Farmers, hackers and criminal activity needs clarification. The anti-botting propaganda put forth by various game publishers is too vague and leads players to inaccurate conclusions about botters, security and botting in general.

Mozilla’s Tantrum Over Competition. Why Be Better When You Can Finger Point Instead?

It is popular sport for anybody that likes or develops an opposing technology to take a swing at Microsoft. I’m not claiming that they never deserve it. Quite often they do. But I’m not blind enough to jump on the bandwagon every time some organization is in a tizzy over something Microsoft did. Microsoft has clearly made design decisions that affect user choice.

Ram Optimizers and Task Killers: Snake Oil for Ram

Ram Optimizers and Task Killers: Snake Oil for Ram

Why do people buy fast and powerful devices and then insist on obsessing over how many apps are open? I had to address this because the amount of ignorance when it comes to how RAM actually works and how our computers and devices utilize it is astounding. The existence of task killers, memory optimizers, and open app widgets is owed in part to user FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt).

Wi-Fi Sense. Great New Feature or Security Risk?

Wi-Fi Sense. Great New Feature or Security Risk?

Windows 10 has a shiny new feature called Wi-Fi Sense. As with anything new in technology there is some confusion and misinformation regarding this new feature. There are sure to be hoaxes, rumors, and bad information accepted by the ignorant as fact over this one. I wouldn’t call it controversy just yet but I can see it getting turned into one when it doesn’t need to be. They “Don’t Confuse Me with Facts” crowd seems to be getting larger and louder no thanks to social media. With Wi-Fi Sense you can automatically log friends onto your Wi-Fi network without giving up your password.
