If you’re into installing ROMs and kernels on your Android device, you must already know about the CyanogenMod team (CM team) and what a full featured ROM build they’ve released recently – the CyanogenMod 10.2 based on Jelly Bean 4.3. Packed with a plethora of mouthwatering features, the CyanogenMod 10.2 build has heaps to offer with its more stable and smoother user interface functions and endless range of customizable features. But the most visually striking of all is CM 10.2’s home and lockscreen for android widget – cLock widget.
No doubt, it’s mostly why the build looks so appealing, but doing away with your current ROM means that you’ll be making a hell of a lot of sacrifices for what? – A clock widget. Well, if this is your problem, then we’ve got the solution for you. Luckily XDA recognized developer DVTonder has extracted the cLock widget feature from the CM 10.2 build into a fully functioning .apk file for all Android devices running Jelly Bean 4.2 and above. What this means is that you don’t have to install the entire ROM just to use the home and lockscreen widget features as this would involve a lot of risks (bricking your device and whatnot) and also take up a lot of your time. Instead, you can download the .apk file and install it just like any other app from the Play Store.
Lockscreen for Android Features
Some of the features you might see in the app – cLock screen gives you the option to choose between two very Jelly Bean 4.3-looking clock layouts.
- analog style
- digital style
To fully optimize the Jelly Bean 4.3 appearance, we recommend that you use the analog look as it promotes the Android feel much more, that is if you want to promote it. But if you choose to go with the digital look, there’s not much customization that you can do except for the option of making the numbers Bold. You can also choose to display the Yahoo weather panel on your lock screen – this will really come in handy since you don’t have to swipe or enter your pin code, a simple press on the power button will tell you the time and weather. Plus, you can even customize the looks by selecting either the color or Monochrome icons – though we think that Monochrome looks better.
Calendars have also been integrated into the .apk, cLock will display a swipe-able calendar widget that’ll show you all the upcoming dates along with the events in your life. But only if you’re synced with the Facebook app, other than that you could always set up the events in your calendar.
Lockscreen for Android Installation
Like we mentioned above, cLock is just like another app. You download and install from the play store. Download cLock from here to your Android device and initiate the installation via your device browser – after the installation is complete, the cLock app will be present in your App drawer from where you can fiddle with the settings and set it up keeping all the features we’ve mentioned above. Just tick-mark the stuff you want, and leave the rest.
Now lock your screen up with your power button and see the magic. Looks good right? The app is in its initial stages at the moment, so we hope to see some cool updates rolling in the future.
