Download Firefox without a Browser

You might be a happy and enthusiastic Internet Explorer aka IE user, you’ve always used it to browse your favourite websites, check your social media, do your shopping, so your internet banking and play YouTube videos. One day you launch Internet Explorer and it crashes, you try again and it only crashes, you even restarted your computer and Internet Explorer does nothing but crashes. Unfortunately Internet Explorer is the only browser on your computer so you can’t even search the internet for the solution and that’s the problem.

This post will present a step by step guide on how to download and install Firefox without relying on any browser to overcome the above problem, there are many ways by which you can download Firefox without a browser but in this post only the easiest two methods will be presented.

Method One – Download Firefox without a Browser

The first method would rely on Windows Explorer to download Firefox.

Step 1: Access Mozilla’s FTB website by copying and pasting the following link (ftp://ftp.mozilla.org) in the Windows Explorer address bar and hit “Enter”.

Step 2: You’ll be prompted by the following window.

Step 3: Navigate to th following folder; pub >> Firefox >> releases >> latest >> win32 >> en-US. Of course that if you want to install the english version. You shall be in a window like the one below.

Step 4: Now, you should copy the Firefox.exe file to your computer and install it.

Method Two – Download Firefox without a Browser

The second method will rely on using the command prompt to download Firefox.

Step 1: Open the start menu and type cmd.

Step 2: In the command prompt type the following command (ftp ftp.mozilla.org).

Step 3: In the “User” type “anonymous” leave the password field blank.

Step 5: Copy and paste the following link in the command prompt to navigate to the download directory (cd pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/latest/win32/en-US).

Step 5: Then type ls in the command prompt.

Step 6: Type the following command (get “Firefox Setup 36.0.exe”) in the command prompt, of course you should change the version number with the latest releases version at the time of downloading.

After downloading the .exe file just start installing it, and now you can search the internet and troubleshoot the crashing problem of Internet Explorer.
