How To Create A Facebook Tab

As the months and years go by, Facebook has disabled quite a number of features of the Facebook tab and made it more difficult to set up. A particular feature we loved was the “Fan Gate” or a fans only content. With that gone, we basically lost the option to have a fans only section. Nevertheless, Facebook tabs is still a powerful tool. Everybody wants one, but not many know how to get it. This tutorial aims to get you started in creating a Facebook tab.

Requirements

  1. You obviously need a Facebook page.
  2. A website or a page.

Step One

Login to Facebook then visit this page – https://apps.facebook.com/iframe-apps. You have to be logged in to the account that has admin rights to your Facebook page.

Step Two

Choose the Facebook page that you want to install the tab on.

Step Three

Click on the URL button. Explanation of the text fields.

iFrame URL: The URL or link of your page that you want to show on your Facebook tab.

Frame height: How high is your page. You can play around with this until you get the correct height. 1000 pixels to start, sounds about right.

Keep top menu: We normally check this, the top menu gets pretty annoying.

Step Four

Click on save. Then select the page you want to install the App on.

Optional Steps

If you want to configure your Facebook tab button you can do so by click on Edit Page then Update Info.

Then select Apps then Edit Settings under iFrame Apps.

Conclusion

That\’s how you add a Facebook tab. You can customize your Facebook tab button by changing the name of the button and the thumbnail.

Sometimes after adding the URL to iFrame Apps, you may experience some errors. Give it a few seconds for the servers to propagate  iFrame Apps goes into maintenance mode sometimes as well, and it may show as your Facebook tab is offline, do not worry! It will be back.
