Ever found yourself in a situation where you need to re-size a vertical image into a horizontal dimension? Using the Image Resize tool in Photoshop would not work as the image would be distorted.
Scenario
Original image size: 1500 pixels (width) x 2250 pixels (height)
Required image size: 640 pixels (width) x 425 pixels (height)

The goal would be to re-size the image above to 640 x 425 pixels.
Step 1: Start Photoshop
Step 2: Go to File then New.
Step 3: Enter the required image size then press OK.

Step 4: You should already have your image open in Photoshop. Drag your photo into the newly created image sized at 640 px x 425 px.
Step 5: Press CTRL + T.
Step 6: Hold down Shift and use your mouse to re-size the image. Holding down Shift will Constrain Proportions.

Outcome

The left image above shows a larger image but some parts are missing. The right image above shows the entire image but there are white spaces beside the image. You would have to adjust the image to suit your needs and we hope you found this tutorial useful.
