The method of jailbreaking will vary depending on what version of iOS you are running. To check, open up your settings application, tap on the general tab, and tap on “About”. Scroll down until you see “Version”, which will have your version next to it.
If you’re running iOS 8.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2, or 8.1 you will be using the following method, which uses a software application called “Pangu”. You will also need to have one of the following devices: iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad (2, 3, 4, Air, Mini, Mini 2, Mini 3), or iPod Touch (5th Generation).
Prerequisites to Jailbreaking iOS 8.1.1 or iOS 8.1.2
First, turn off any lock screen passcode or Touch ID settings that you may have on. Having these enabled will interfere with the jailbreaking process (Settings > General > Touch ID & Passcode > turn off Simple Passcode). You will also need to turn off Find My iPhone (Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone).
Back up your device using iTunes, just to ensure that the latest copy of your device content has been saved.
Ensure that you have some version iTunes 12 or later.
Step 1: Download Pangu (http://en.pangu.io)
Step 2: If running Windows, right-click the Pangu icon and select the “Run as Administrator” option.
Step 3: Connect your device via USB with Pangu up and running.
Step 4: Select the big “Start Jailbreak” button in the middle of the display, and then press “Already did” on the following screen. Your phone will reboot a couple of times, and voila! Your phone will be jailbroken.
Easy, right? You will find the Pangu app and Cydia installed on your home screen. Start installing your favorite apps and tweaks!

If you’re running iOS 8.1.1 – 8.1.3, the process is just a little different, and varies on what kind of computer you have.
