There’s no denying that carrier deals are the best when purchasing a high end expensive flagship phone like the S4 – but everything comes with a catch, doesn’t it? In this case, if you buy a phone on a deal for half the price, you’re limited to only using the carrier you purchased it from. Can’t use any other network SIM. Well you can always carrier unlock your S4 by spending a little cash. But why do it when you can save your money and spend it on coffee or something, and unlock your S4 from the comfort of your home for the price of absolutely, FREE!
Unlocking your galaxy S4 can be a little easier to do than other phones since Samsung has given their users a little freedom to play with their devices. We couldn’t believe how simple it was and there is no risk to damaging your Galaxy S4 in any way, if you follow the steps below carefully.
Things to Remember
- Make sure you have sufficient battery on your galaxy S4 – 90% to be on the safer side.
- Backup all your important stuff on your S4 since there’s a chance you might lose it after you perform the network unlock on your device.
- You can only perform this network unlock on the International variant of Galaxy S4 – although this might work on other variants as well, but we don’t give any guarantees.
- This is an unofficial hack to carrier unlock your Galaxy S4 device, so even though there are no risks, we cannot be held liable for whatever that happens.

Press the Menu button and then press the Back Key (not the permanent back key; but the option available after selecting Menu). Now press the Menu button once more and select the Key Input option. Enter 1 now and press OK to go into service mode.
Step 2: Press the Menu button again followed by the Back key to bring up the Service mode Main menu. After you’ve opened that up, select the UMTS option.
Step 3: On the next screen, select the Debug Screen option, followed by the Phone Control option.
Step 4: On the next screen, choose Network Lock this is where you’ll hack into the firmware and unlock your network lock.
Step 5: In the Network Unlock option, you’ll get three options. Out of the three, choose PERSO SHA256 OFF
Remember to choose the options with ‘off’ at the end, as this is what will unlock your network lock.
Step 6: Next, go back to the Service mode main menu – How? – press the Main menu button and then the Back key button. Now select the Common option, and then NV Rebuild on the following screen.
Step 7: Your S4 will then inform you that a Golden Backup exists on the next screen. To do this, select the Restore-Backup option.
Next, your Galaxy S4 will pop up with a few conditions and terms, at which point it will get stuck and freeze (nothing will work, including the hardware buttons). During this, the LED will turn blue and you’ll see the screen go completely blank. After that, your galaxy S4 will reboot automatically in a network unlocked state. You can finally use your other network SIMs and break the network barrier on your Galaxy S4 – but hold your horses, the boot will take quite a few minutes since it’ll process everything as a carrier unlocked device for the first time.
